<p>Dr Chayan Shanmugaratnam is a UK-based Core Surgical Trainee with a strong academic interest in otolaryngology, surgical robotics, and artificial intelligence. He holds an MRes in Medical Robotics and Image-Guided Intervention from Imperial College London, where his research focused on applying machine learning to predict surgical site infections using large-scale perioperative datasets.</p> <p>Chayan has also completed an intercalated degree in Regenerative Medicine and Innovation Technology, contributing to translational research in synthetic bone matrices for maxillofacial applications. His current work spans surgical data science, AI-assisted patient education, ergonomic analysis in the operating theatre, and technology-enhanced surgical training.</p> <p>He aspires to pursue a career as an academic ENT surgeon, leading innovation at the intersection of robotics, artificial intelligence, and surgical practice.</p>
