Shaden Zakariya Yahya Al Riyami

<p>Dr. Shaden Zakariya Yahya Al Riyami is a distinguished ENT Sr. Consultant specialized in Laryngology and Head and Neck Surgery at Al Nahda Hospital, under the Ministry of Health in the Sultanate of Oman. She spearheaded the development of phonosurgery services in Oman, and established the country’s first voice clinic, and introduced the office-based phonosurgery procedures to the country. Notably, in 2023, she performed the first Type III thyroplasty in the Sultanate.</p> <p>Dr. Al Riyami completed a prestigious Fellowship in Advanced Laryngology at the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Trust in the United Kingdom. She is trained under the mentorship of Professor Janet Wilson, refining her expertise in complex airway management and phonosurgery before returning to elevate laryngological standards in Oman. She is an integral member of the Head and Neck Team at the ENT department of Al Nahda Hospital, where she contributes her sub-specialty expertise to complex head and neck surgical cases.</p> <p>Her academic excellence has been recognized internationally, most notably winning the BLA David Howard Prize for best presentation from the British Laryngology Association at the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2017. In addition to her clinical contributions, Dr. Al Riyami is heavily involved in medical education and leadership, serving as a member of the Education and Research Committees at the Oman Medical Specialty Board (OMSB) and as a clinical teacher for medical students at Sultan Qaboos University.</p>
