Aim
Allergic rhinitis is a chronic disease characterized by nasal and ocular symptoms resulting from a Type I hypersensitivity reaction to allergens in sensitized individuals and affects approximately 30% of the population. Skin prick testing is one of the most commonly used methods for demonstrating allergen sensitization in the diagnosis of allergic rhinitis. This course aims to provide participants with the fundamental knowledge and practical skills required to perform skin prick testing correctly and safely.
Scope
In the first part of the course, the indications and contraindications for skin prick testing, pre-test considerations, testing procedure, and interpretation of the results will be briefly discussed.
This will be followed by an interactive, hands-on skin prick testing session with the participants.
