Transoral margin clearing operations and neck dissection(s) are the best way to begin the cancer care of the oropharyngeal cancer patient. Twenty to 25% of patients can then avoid radiation/chemoradiation. The rest can receive a lower dose of standard adjuvant radiation OR a majority can be de-escalated with demonstrated reduced morbidity without compromising survival. This presentation will share Mayo Clinic’s experience to date with de-escalation of adjuvant radiation or DART.
