Charlotte M. Chiong

Dr. Charlotte Chiong currently serves as Professor and Dean of the UP College of Medicine.  She was elected  academician of the National Academy of Science and Technology of the Philippines,  is a university scientist 3,  holds the Alfredo T. Ramirez Professorial Chair and One UP Professorial Chair in Otology and Neurotology of the University of the Philippines.  She has garnered awards in leadership, research and education  and over  the past three decades has held both national and international leadership positions among which are founding directorship of the Newborn Hearing Screening Center, director of the Philippine National Ear Institute, President of Philippine Society of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery as well as Chair of the Philippine Academy of Neurotology Otology and Related Sciences, General Secretary of the Asean Academy of Neurotology and Audiology as well as Regional Secretary of IFOS ( International Federation of Otolaryngological Societies ).  She is a pioneer cochlear implant surgeon and continues her work  on  newborn hearing screening and restoration of hearing among the deaf.  She finished  Otolaryngology Residency Program at UP-PGH, Harvard Medical School- Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary Research  Fellowship in Otology, University of Toronto Clinical Fellowship in Neurotology and PhD in Medical Sciences of Radboud University Nijmegen.
